KEN PAVIA NOT ALWAYS SO CHARITABLE?

MMA Agent Ken Pavia hard at work.

An inside source has alleged the following to MMA Enquirer:

In July 2006, Kimo was scheduled to fight Bas Rutten at the WFA "King of the Streets" event. When Kimo got caught using steroids , the WFA needed to find a last minute heavyweight replacement to fight Rutten. "MMA Agent" Ken Pavia, who was not Wes Sims' agent at the time, attempted to convince Wes Sims to do the WFA event. Sims however had already committed to fighting in WEC benefit for the Ryan Bennett Memorial Fund at no cost. Simms was fighting for free, because he believed in the value of the WEC event, and what it meant to Bennett's family. Ken Pavia tried to dissuade Sims from doing the Ryan Bennett event for free, and instead to take the paying WFA gig. The WFA would earn Ken not only a percentage of Sims’ pay (a substantial $30K), but gain him new client as well.

Judging by his efforts to convince Wes Sims to abandon the WEC/Bennett benefit in preference for taking a fight that would earn Pavia some serious dollars, it appears that Ken had little concern for the needs of Bennett's family at that time.

"I think it was a great show,” said Wes Sims, who last week decided to honor his commitment of fighting for the WEC rather than pocketing $30,000 for a short-notice bout versus Bas Rutten. "I couldn't be happier. A lot of people came out. We raised a lot of money and I hope it helps the family a good bit. I made the right decision for myself and I’m glad to be here."

Ironically, according to Ken Pavia, this is the same cause that he is now putting a golf tournament on for, and he suddenly supports the cause by charging people up to $10K per party for the opportunity to play golf with an MMA Fighter. Keep in mind that the only official charity organization for Bennett, the Ryan Bennett Memorial Fund recently shut it's doors, and has announced this on the front page of it's website. Oddly, Pavia's website states that it is raising funds for something called The Ryan Bennett Foundation, an organization that despite our extensive investigation, does not appear to exist. Pavia’s MMA Agents website also states that this is the "1st Annual Golf Day", indicating that he plans to put on such an event once a year.

Where exactly is this money going?
